چکیده

Abstract Different parts of the Lower Cretaceous Alam El Bueib (AEB) and Jurassic Khatatba source reservoir rock units in Faghur basin, like other basins north Western Desert, act as hydrocarbon sources reservoirs. In present study, well-log data from five wells Phiops field geochemical Neith S-2X well neighbor together with reflection 2D seismic thirty (30) lines have been utilized to evaluate Jurassic-Lower petroleum system basin give evidence for future exploration development study area. Source evaluation shows that several both shale rocks represent good rocks. Total organic carbon (TOC) values studied range 0.27 6.39 wt.% reflect fair very rock, while Toc value Bueib-6 is 2.52 indicates a rock. These are characterized by type (III) kerogen, reflecting their ability produce gas minor oil. On hand, characterization richness kerogen an input (II) well, which appears generate Most found be mature stage. Petrophysical four definite reservoirs (Alam Bueib-3D, Bueib-3E, Bueib-3G, Bueib-6) reservoir. Values net reservoir, saturation, water saturation indicate these promising basin. Local intra-formational intervals most probably seal AEB carbonate interval Masajid Formation Formation. Moreover, analysis interpretation showed structural stratigraphic traps dominate. Integration geochemical, petrophysical, results, light available geological information, complete Mesozoic

A Thermal Maturity Analysis of the Effective Cretaceous Petroleum System in the Southern Persian Gulf Basin

Commercial hydrocarbon discoveries in the Cretaceous of the southern Persian Gulf basin provide direct evidence that there is an effective petroleum system associated with the Cretaceous series. The revised models of thermal maturity in this region are needed to investigate lateral and stratigraphic variations of thermal maturity, which have not so far been addressed in detail for this part of ...

A revision of the Upper Cretaceous lepidosirenid lungfishes from the Quseir Formation, Western Desert, central Egypt

We evaluate new lungfish remains from the Upper Cretaceous Quseir Formation in the Western Dessert of southern Egypt. Taxa include Lavocatodus protopteroides, L. humei, L. giganteus, and Protopterus nigeriensis. We treat Lavocatodus as members of Lepidosirenidae based on the presence of a well-defined medial articular surface, in the absence of a symphyseal surface of corresponding prearticular...

Upper Cretaceous Petroleum System of Northwestern Persian Gulf

Three well - known source rocks of the Zagros basin and the Persian Gulf are Mesozoic in age.The Jurassic Sargelu, Albian Kazhdumi and Neocomian-Coniacian Garau formations have charged the Cretaceous reservoirs of this area. The northwest part of the Persian Gulf is strongly influenced by two major N-S trending paleohighs (Hendijan- Bahregansar-Regesafid-Izeh and Kharge- Mish) and surrounding p...

Factors Affecting the Ultimate Compressive Strength of the Quaternary Calcarenites, North Western Desert, Egypt

The calcarenites carbonate rocks of the Quaternary ridges, which extend along the northwestern Mediterranean coastal plain of Egypt, represent an excellent model for the transformation of loose sediments to real sedimentary rocks by the different stages of meteoric diagenesis. The depositional and diagenetic fabrics of the rocks, in addition to the strata orientation, highly affect their ultima...

The Middle Cretaceous – Lower Miocene 3D petroleum system Modeling of Kupal Oil Field, South West of Iran, Dezful Embayment

The the Middle Cretaceous-Lower Miocene petroleum system of the Kupal oil field, located in the Dezful Embayment has been studied. The Kazhdumi and Pabdeh are main source rocks, the Sarvak, Ilam and Asmari formations are reservoir and the Gachsaran formation is the seal rock. According to geochemical analysis the Kazhdumi and Pabdeh contributed to oil production and feeding the Asmari and Bange...
